Rainbow Flava, Deep Dickollective, Tim'm T. West featured on Phat Family Records compilation

January 1, 2003 - Phat Family Records, an organization of LGBT hip-hop artists and fans, has released Phat Family Volume 2: Down 4 the Swerve. This latest edition of the groundbreaking CD compilation series features 14 tracks by gay, lesbian and bisexual hip-hop artists from across the U.S. and Europe, including Rainbow Flava, Tori Fixx, Deep Dickollective, Miss Money, Tim'm T. West and others.

Since the release of Volume 1: The Dozens in April 2002 through MP3.com's NetCD program, Phat Family Records has garnered national attention, with profiles of its artists appearing in the New York Times, VIBE, the Advocate, Newsweek, and OUT magazines as well as MTV News and the BBC. The next edition of the series, Volume 3: Servin' Up Nasty is slated for release in May and will feature new music by God-Des, Deadlee, Jen-Ro, Dutchboy, Johnny Dangerous and many others. All proceeds from sale of the compilation are distributed directly to LGBT charities in the U.S. and U.K.

November 15, 2002 - Family Business, the long-awaited third release from pioneering LGBT rap group Rainbow Flava, has just been released on Phat Family Records. Two years in the making, this 16-song retrospective includes new tracks and other previously unavailable material from group members Dutchboy, DJ Monkey, Pointfivefag and N.I.Double-K.I.

In addition to signature songs such as "Pride & Prejudice," "Funky Bisexual" and "Goin' Dutch" which longtime fans may recognize from the group's live performances, Family Business also includes guest appearances by Miss Money, Shanté Smalls, MC Lymus and Deep Dickollective. The CD is currently available online exclusively through MP3.com.

Rainbow Flava live at PeaceOUT Homo Hop Festival

September 1, 2002 - Headlining their first West Coast appearance in over 2 years, Rainbow Flava's Dutchboy, Pointfivefag and DJ Monkey rocked the house at Oakland, CA's Club Metro for the opening night of PeaceOUT, the second annual international homo hip-hop conference over Labor Day Weekend.

Sponsored by East Bay Pride and KMEL, the three-day festival showcased LGBT hip-hop artists from across the globe, including Tori Fixx from Minneapolis, Los Angeles' Deadlee, God-Des from Madison, WI and MisterMaker from London, England and many others. The event was also a reunion of sorts for Rainbow Flava, as Dutchboy and DJ Monkey traveled from their respective homes in New York and Hawaii to attend.

Rainbow Flava's Dutchboy, Juba Kalamka live at Homo Hop Massive, NYC

April 27, 2002 - Rainbow Flava's Dutchboy and Juba Kalamka performed live at Meow Mix Bar in Manhattan's Lower East Side, culminating a weekend of events and discussions on hip-hop and sexual identity. The duo performed songs from Rainbow Flava's upcoming CD, Family Business. Other performers included Deep Dickollective, singer/songwriter Robin Cloud, spoken word artist Shanté Smalls and DJs Ross Hogg and Daryl Raymond.

Homo Hop Massive, a two-day event co-sponsored by Phat Family Records and People of Color in Crisis in Brooklyn, also featured a panel discussion and an appearance by Tim'm T. West and Manny Black at the Brooklyn Café.

Da Dis List is an archive of hip-hop/rap songs with anti-gay lyrical content, as compiled by members of the Phat Family mailing list, including everything from casual insults such as "faggot" or "dyke" to songs which openly advocate violence against LGBT people. It is intended not as a blacklist or censorship, but rather as a resource to inform discussion of issues of gender and sexual identity in hip-hop.
